Shenzhen Overseas Friendship Association Visits IMC

On April 20, 2026, Mr. Qin Jingteng, Vice President of the Shenzhen Overseas Friendship Association, and Mr. Wang Huaiyu, Chairman of the Starfire Youth Development Company Limited, led a delegation to visit the Interim Secretariat of the International Mangrove Center (IMC). The visit featured discussions on youth ecological education, international cooperation in environmental conservation, and mangrove conservation volunteer services.

Prof. Bao Daming, Director General of the IMC Interim Secretariat, extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation and briefed them on the IMC's development progress and operations. He noted that as a regional initiative under the framework of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, IMC is actively advancing international exchange and cooperation in the field of mangrove conservation. He emphasized that IMC places great importance on the role of civil society and expressed the IMC's openness to strengthening engagement with relevant organizations, exploring collaboration in youth ecological education, volunteer services, and public participation, with the shared goal of promoting the principles and practice of mangrove conservation

Vice President Qin Jingteng provided an overview of Shenzhen's efforts in organizing youth green action initiatives, sharing progress and outcomes in the areas of youth exchange and ecological education practice. He noted that Shenzhen is leveraging multi-stakeholder coordination mechanisms to continuously encourage youth participation in ecological conservation, and expressed hope to strengthen cooperation with IMC in mangrove protection volunteer services, ecological education, and international exchange, with a view to broadening the scope of future collaboration.

Mr. Wang Huaiyu, Chairman of the Starfire Youth Development Company Limited, introduced his organization's work in promoting youth ecological education and cross-border exchange, and expressed interest in establishing practical cooperation with IMC across relevant fields.

The discussions centered on innovative models for youth engagement in ecological conservation, volunteer service participation, and pathways for international cooperation. Participants reached a consensus on deepening future exchanges and exploring a multi-stakeholder, collaborative approach to advancing mangrove conservation efforts.
