On 20 January 2026, a delegation from the School of International Organizations of Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) visited the Interim Secretariat of the International Mangrove Center (IMC) for an exchange meeting. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on professional needs in the operation of international organizations and the cultivation of internationally oriented, interdisciplinary talent.

Professor Bao Daming, Director General of the Interim Secretariat of IMC, welcomed the delegation and introduced the background of the IMC, organizational structure, and operational status. He noted that, as an international platform dedicated to global mangrove conservation, IMC’s extensive international cooperation network and multilateral practices offer diverse opportunities and collaborative spaces for the development of international talent. He expressed his hope to pursue substantive cooperation with the School of International Organizations of BFSU in areas such as talent development, specialized research, and capacity building.
Professor Li Hui, Dean of the School of International Organizations of BFSU, introduced BFSU’s educational philosophy and practical achievements. As China’s first school dedicated to international organizations, the School has long been committed to cultivating interdisciplinary professionals with strong language skills, a solid understanding of international rules, and practical competence, and has successfully contributed numerous professionals to the United Nations and other international organizations. She noted that the School hopes to leverage its strengths to provide professional support to IMC in areas including international environmental law research, international cooperation, and personnel training.
Both sides agreed that international mangrove conservation is a key issue in global ecological governance, and that strengthening collaboration between international organizations and universities would help achieve resource complementarity and joint capacity development. Going forward, the two sides will explore cooperation through research support and talent development initiatives, with a view to promoting the professionalization and internationalization of the IMC’s operations, thereby providing stronger support in talent development for global mangrove conservation and sustainable development.
