On March 4, 2025, Wang Haizhong, President of the China Wetlands Association, and his delegation visited the Interim Secretariat of the International Mangrove Center (IMC), and the two sides had in-depth exchanges on the development of the IMC and the conservation of mangroves and wetlands in China, and reached a preliminary consensus on the future direction of cooperation.

Exchange discussion between the CWA and IMC
Prof. Bao Daming, Director General of the Interim Secretariat of the IMC, welcomed President Wang Haizhong and his delegation and introduced the development, objectives, organizational structure and operation of the IMC. He emphasized that the IMC is currently making every effort to promote key tasks such as relevant approval procedures and preparation for council meetings. As the world's first intergovernmental international organization focusing on the conservation, restoration and wise and sustainable use of mangroves, the IMC will promote the conservation, restoration wise and sustainable use of mangroves around the world through international cooperation to help achieve the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
President Wang Haizhong expressed that as an important platform for the host country in the field of wetland protection, the China Wetlands Association is a close partner of the IMC, and the two sides have opportunities for exchanges and learning in the fields of knowledge sharing, technology promotion, talent training, and international cooperation. In the next step, the two sides can rely on their respective advantages to steadily promote pragmatic cooperation, coordinate the investigation and research of mangrove conservation, jointly expand international cooperation and exchanges, and work together to build a communication mechanism with international influence, so as to continue to enhance the global attention of wetland and mangrove conservation.
This exchange deepened the consensus between the two sides on the future direction of cooperation and laid a solid foundation for promoting cooperation in wetland and mangrove conservation.
